Langtang Valley Trekking

Langtang Valley Trekking is one of the least trekked, yet one of the most beautiful, trekking areas. Located north of the Kathmandu Valley, the route goes through traditional and ethnic villages and untouched forests on the way to the peaks of Langtang-Lirung. This trek reveals the contrast between the Hindu culture of the Kathmandu Valley and the Buddhist culture to the immediate north of Kathmandu. The highlights of this tour include the visit to Langtang Valley, Kyangin Gompa (monastery) and the Lirung Glacier.

It commences with an overland journey to Dhunche, the main trading post of the area. From here we spend four days hiking up through this beautiful alpine valley to Kyangjin, where we rest for a day for some exploration of the high mountains and glacial systems. The Track backs for three days before starting a journey to the sacred lakes of Gossainkund, a major pilgrimage sight for Hindus and Buddhists both. We cross the Laurebina pass (4600 mtrs), as well as Goisaikund and drop into the lush Helambu region having different cultural experiences eventually finishing the trek an hours drive from Kathmandu.
